Blog #3

The target audience for this advertisement is people who smoke cigarettes. The advertisement is trying to reach out to the people who smoke so try and convince them to stop the habit. The strategies being used in the advertisement is mainly fear. It is very difficult to try and convince a smoker to stop smoking with just a casual conversation, so this advertisement is trying to scare the smokers into quitting. The use of skeleton can symbolize death and the straight forwardness of the "Stop smoking or stop  breathing," can really strike fear into certain people. Also, with the use of the colors black and dark read, it gives a sense of fear as well and the advertisement does not use any bright colors or colors that show life in an effort to convince people who smoke cigarettes to quit. This is a very straight to the point advertisement and does not beat around the bush when it comes to the subject.
